The French are very good at promoting their wines but by and large they are expensive and not as good as Italian wines. I have consumed some fine French wines but I must say that I tend to prefer Italian wines.

At least once a year we go with friends on a wine buying expedition in Piemonte. Our favourite is
Cantine Amerio

You can call in for a tasting at any time during their opening hours, but if prearranged for a group they will also lay on some salami and cheese to go with the wine. A great area to visit smile wine
