Well it's not called the European Song Contest. "Eurovision" is the network of the European Broadcasting Union which has members from all round the world. The Israel Broadcasting Authority has been a full member since 1957 and the Australian Broadcasting Commission since 1950.

I know I'm getting old and pedantic, but it irritates me the song contest is referred to as "Eurovision". The EBU is involved in numerous international productions including all the major events like the Olympics and the World Cup.
