Oh, and I still think the Plus 8 is a better car than the +4, but perhaps looses a little bit in the "totally authentic"bit.
A 2 wheel analogy: The +4 is a Royal Enfield, the Plus 8 a 1200cc new Triumph Bonneville. Both are a trip into the past, one more pure but flawed.
Of course the Plus 8 is a better car - after all its designed 40/50/60?? years later. But the trad, particularly if I go back a few years to say the duratec engined ones, has three big advantages for me. The first is the lack of electronics and therefore the ability to avoid dealerships. The second is the ability to tune and fettle. The third is a sensible performance level .
But before this goes any further I did say "just suppose". And the Ferrari always was agreed with SWMBO as a two year toy.
Its all about useability really. And the replacement choice is between something modern like an F type or at the other extreme a Morgan. We shall see but window shopping is fun and I enjoy talking about it.
