Returning to bronze bushes and either stainless steel or hard chrome pins. Let's assume that the rebound spring area is sealed from the weather - I accept that this is not 100% even with luxury gaiters...............
I can understand that the harder surface will abrade the softer surface, but with grease in between, this should be minimal. But then I presume that if wear takes place, the grease film must break down. So surely there is something which would be superior to grease? Is this only Vesconite?

And finally, what is the metallurgy which drives wear. Is it simply molecules breaking away slowly and building up an abrasive paste in the grease? (assuming no external agents).
