I took the radiator grill right off and looking at the way it is made one answer would be to get a new on fabricated about 5cm longer and with the stainless strip below.
This would hide most of the "gubbins" and eliminate the need for VERY expensive painting. But still doesn't get over the fact that the radiator cowl is too short on each side. It needs to come down to meet the bottom of the wing.
The radiator grill isn't exactly a complex part, but the curve is. So it would probably need a spare grill to be used as a donor/template
The extensions to the cowl could be added to the ends of the stainless band at the bottom of the grill.
More to think about, but a winter project I think.
Peter, the painting needn't be "very expensive". A mate had a panel sprayed by Chipsaway. He has an MX5. The panel was between boot and roof. Mazda dealers couldn't get the colour right but Chipsaway got it perfect. They did 3 test pieces of shades and their original was perfect. Cost was just over £100 which is great value compared to bodyshops and was done "while you wait" not a 2 day process. My mate was well impressed and he is very fastidious.
