Yes, I've gotten out and walked around it. It is definitely emanating from the front of the car (it is distinctly farther away when you are behind it). That being said, it is hard to tell if it is in the engine area proper of perhaps further behind it.
It's helpful to know that the compensator issues are more like "a tin can full of bolts"; this is not anywhere near that. It is distinct, but not extremely loud, more like a single bolt in a heavy metal can.
