I think you're right, Will. The DVLA services I use (VED, MOT Reminder, Vehicle Status) work really well in my experience.

Actually, I mus say the other on-line Government services are pretty good too. From on-line VAT returns and real-time PAYE to medical records, Doctor's appointments and repeat prescriptions. They are all loads better than the old manual systems.


I agree but there are still anomalies - I consider myself reasonable good at this kind of thing but cancelling a VAT registration took me 3 attempts and a call to HMRC to complete. The sequence of forms is confusing - you think you have finished and you have one more form to go. The chap on the phone was very helpful and it became obvious that I am one of many that call in to ask for help with this. It is a shame as all the other services seem to be very good. Anyway - one more step on the way to winding the business up is now complete.
