This highlights the need of a cover of some sort to exclude rainwater ... Much as the louvres look the part I wonder if it would not be better to have the louvres only on the sides and at over the air intake for the heater/aircon.
Do you mean like the “reduced louvres” as on my 2005 4/4 ...?
