Worth checking the ball is free with a scriber or the like so grease can pass. You need to hit the nipple directly square on , any deflection and the grease will escape and take the line of least resistance.
Totally agree. A square-on approach is essential. This is why I prefer a trigger operated grease gun with flexible pipe rather than lever operated or with rigid pipe. One hand to squeeze the trigger whilst the other can be used to keep the greasing head bang on in line.
