Hugo:- You state that you do not want a repair to your chassis, particularly if MMC are not prepared to offer any guarantee for the repair.
My car was one of the other 5 cars found to have a crack in the same position as yours and I felt exactly the same, but had no other option but to accept their repair. Although MMC did not charge for the actual repair, we had to find a way of getting our cars to the factory at our expense. MMC specifically stated that they should not be driven.
Even if we (and yourself) had a new chassis fitted, I still do not believe that MMC would guarantee it against future cracking.
I just wonder how many M3Ws are being driven around with cracks that are going un-noticed, and how long it will be before a nasty accident occurs because of this problem.
