Since the original post I have reflected on the issues of ownership and the views subsequently expressed and these have convinced me that one should hang on to a good car irrespective of mileage, particularly if it has been 'personalised' to ones satisfaction and is in good condition. (oh - and really likes it of course!)
Couple of observations which I am sure have been aired before:
The personalisation and desire to make our cars different doesn't affect values in the way that it would to other classics where owners are hankering after authenticity in all details. Morgan must surely be alone in this trait?
Ownership is an inexplicable passion and, without overblowing it, the work we do to them makes them extensions of our own personalities which in turn makes for very difficult decisions when the time comes to move on for insurmountable practical reasons.
For my part, these thoughts have made me determined to keep and use my Plus 8 and to personalise it further so thank you all!
Absolutely, Rob. Couldn't agree with you more. There's nothing better in my view than building up a long-term relationship with a car.
