I have only once taken out an international licence and nobody ever wanted to see it so I never bothered after that.

In China we had to apply for a Chinese driving licence even though we were only there for two weeks (on Chinese registered MZ 250 motorcycles) we had to surrender the licences at the end of the trip despite originally being told that we would be able to keep them as a souvenir. One of our group of 6 refused to surrender his and told them he had lost it. He probably now has a lifetime ban on riding in China laugh2
