I certainly agree with Alistair that moving this thread to the Soap Box would be a good idea, but I don't agree with preventing discussion - as Simon said just the other day, we are all adults and telling people what they may or may not discuss is not a good approach, we all saw what happened to EMog.
The problem with alternative forums is that Talk Morgan is a civilised place where we can discuss things in a rational manner. Many other forums, especially those with no filters for membership, are useless because they are dominated by crazy extremists and everything quickly descends to slanging matches driven by polarised black/white absolutism.
As with any thread, we are all free to ignore or disengage from discussions which have no interest.
As this is a virtual pub It seems to me that discussions can be had on ANY topic,I certianly dont go to the pub and just talk about Morgans, does anyone ? but what do I know, Im a new guy here :-)
EDIT: As long as its kept civilised of course.
I agree it should be moved. Not because I think that we should not discuss, within reason, any topic on the forum but perhaps it is best that some topics be discussed in the private "Club Lounge", otherwise known as the Soap Box, where the children, and others easily offended, may not, or don't have to, enter.
I actually view the whole forum as a virtual pub

Though I just might go and get a real beer 🍻
On the topic itself there are two issues. The young lady concerned certainly deserves to be treated with due consideration of the law but she was little more than an infant when she chose to pursue a foolish dream. If she shows no remorse now that she can be considered fully adult I would suggest that she should not be allowed to return. I believe that anyone involved in her recruitment should also be expelled if they have remained in the UK or indeed any European country. The first step on her part should be full and honest disclosure.
Regarding the soldier who has been charged after all these years I can't make any comment about what actually occurred so long ago, but it does seem very strange that this has all suddenly come to a head and one would have to ask why. Perhaps those concerned should have been charged at the time but nearly 50 years after the event that occurred, at a time when many innocents died or where injured, does not seem like justice.
