I'm reasonably sure that Morgan would not be building the frames and mechanisms for the seats. They would just buy them in and upholster them. Certainly they could request lighter springs however they could also purchase the seats from a different supplier that builds a better mechanism.

There is something of a conundrum with the survival of Morgan over the last 50 years. Most English car and bike manufacturers got into severe trouble, were closed or absorbed into other companies for the very simple reason that they failed to modernise products and production techniques. Morgan has survived because it has not modernised (with the partial exception of the Aero range).

Even Morgan has now realised that it is time to update.
