Basically they are used in "hydrogen cars" today. But you could put them anywhere you have a source of hydrogen (think a local solar power station that converts excess electric into hydrogen instead of expensive batteries, or a service station that needs short bursts of high power to charge cars...). No idea what the economics of fuel cells are though...
