This horrid accident clearly asks questions about the steering wheel fastening....

I had a removable wheel on my Lotus. It had a very simple push on to the see/feel that 2 opposite red 'studs' had popped out, indicating the wheel was correctly and securely fastened... but even then, always gave it a big pull and wiggle to check...

I hope MMC quickly get on top of this. I had not realised that a removable wheel was standard/or an option.... Can the car be 'lived in' with a standard fixed wheel?
