Perhaps the only plus point is that the handbrake actuation does away with the "spear" mounting that can puncture the fuel tank under extreme deformation.
And that issue is easily solved by sticking a protective plate to the fuel tank that will protect against penetration. I used a 10mm aluminium plate.
