It’s not easy Chris as you get so attached to them.
I was never a cat person until I got married and our first cat found us as a stray. A long fur tortoiseshell who sensed that I was not a feline lover but soon changed that perception very quickly. We have had five cats now in succession all with their own special character. We had to put our last one to sleep a couple of months ago due to kidney failure and it was very emotional for my wife and myself to say goodbye, but it was the kindest thing to do and have fond memories of her.
We will get another cat soon from a rescue centre near us.
