I've been dry for three years. No medical reason - it just happened and like stopping smoking, once you get a few weeks into it, you dont restart because you know you would feel that you had wasted all those weeks so far. Maybe with me its psychological because I have given up for 6 months or a year several previous times.

That said I had a pint of cider at a recent weekend away because I didnt want to label myself TT. Didnt want or need a straightjacket.

I definitely wake up brighter when I dont drink and several of my pals have found the same thing. Thats despite me never driking more than 4 pints anyway. Seems to me like a message - if you feel better when not boozing then you clearly must be doing yourself some harm when you are boozing.

Becks Blue is one of the best beers though I did try some low alcohol real ale ( Old Peculair I think) which was way better. Stowford Alcohol Free cider is also good and isnt just like apple juice. But most of the time I drink straight tonic with a slice of lemon because some people's reaction to you being TT is negative. Straight tonic looks just like G&T.
