Further to the above, I have now driven one. It was quite an experience, and very intimidating. Coming from a big engined automatic GT car it was tough to get to grips with something so raw and direct, the clutch was tough to balance, the steering was heavy and direct, I slipped sideways pulling out of a junction on a damp road, my elbow was hanging out of the car and I felt very vulnerable every time a massive SUV came past me. I only had 15 minutes behind the wheel and didn't really have time to get over all that before it was over, but having had a few days to digest the experience I do think I want more of it. I expected it to be a totally different driving experience, but I don't think I was mentally prepared for just *how* different it is. It's like being in an entry level formula single seat racer, but on the road.
Next step is to do some more research, understand how I can make it fit in my life and then drive one again with a better idea of what it feels like. Some members on here have reached out to me directly with even more information and help, which I am hugely grateful for. I doubt I'd be willing to take the plunge on one of these without the knowledge that there are a dedicated group of enthusiasts to provide advice.
A group of us often go to Blackbushe Airport Cafe for breakfast, I expect we will be going sometime in the next few weeks, keep an eye out for a post on here and come and meet us. It can't be too far from you.
