Also I would allow 5 mins for removing a cover and putting it somewhere to dry (do folks use alternate covers, 1 drying 1 to use?). Even with a garage I have a 5-10min routine (remove dust sheets, disconnect battery saver, gear up, remove other car car from drive, etc etc...). An M3W is not a convenience journey car IMHO...
Also the M3W does have crash protection and it would be a shame to deny your son rides in such a cool car! Of course drivers around the Reading area can be total idiots, but there are plenty of nice local country rides ...
That's actually part of the reason I prefer a pop-up garage, as it can simply be left up if it needs to dry. I have a cover that I use at the moment for my Aston if I'm leaving it for a while, and it's a real pain to have to dry the cover out. Plus a car should really be clean and dry before a cover goes on, which can be a pain.
I'm actually with you that I should be able to take my Son in the car, at least on short journeys. I'm hoping that if I get the car my Wife will get used to it and soften on the idea of him being in it. I'd have to drop him off at school in it, at least once.
