True, the pump can be changed at the side of the road and you can drive around with all the spares and tools required to do the job but I can assure you, like a lot of M3W jobs, it's much easier to do it in your garage. It's not too tricky to change (unless the lock ring is corroded) and the standard pump is not known for its reliability, most of the Land Rover Discovery owners found that out many years ago as well. Excellent instructions but 2 tips:

When cutting the rubber foot to size it's the 6mm slice you'll be keeping (don't throw that bit in the bin!).

For the new piece of flexible hose definitely put clamps at both ends. I found even the smaller crimp clamp was too big for the top connection so suggest using screw type fuel hose clamps.
