Just found this video on changing purge valve which should help in identifying and temporarily disconnecting electrically

Note this is for V6 Mustang 2011-2014 which has throttle inlet facing forward rather than rearward as on our cars, but should still help.

Purge valve in foreground immediately downstream of throttle behind. Connector C145 clearly visible, not C144 other end of sub loom, but takes the valve itself out of the loop. This will probably throw up extra fault codes when disconnected though.
