I investigated hydrographic dipping a while back as I think this would solve some of the issues with curves, etc.-

Kevin, having re-ignited my interest in this,I have found this guy in the States who does custom graphics for dipping -

As the console gets a lot of wear/abuse, the
'dip' could then be 2K lacquered to give it a bit more resilience
Still a lot cheaper than a new console (if they were even available
