My great grandfather's family evidently ran a Cinema business in rural Essex in the 30s. My great grandmother played the piano, my grandmother sold tickets and then sold snacks in the interval. The men operated the projector and the traction engine outside that provided it's power!
I too remember the rag and bone man , his horse and his call. How about door to door salesmen selling brushes and brooms and the onion seller on his bike with strings of onions and a beret?
We had a modern house, but I remember the coke deliveries and we had a gas tap for a gas powered fridge.
