I remember one forum owner (not here on TM, I think it was a Volvo forum) who happily hard wired his direct to 12V after removing the cigar lighter plug. Result - one very cooked camera!
Unless it was a very old Volvo it’s amazing he didn’t upset the multiplex system.

One those S40/V40 IIRC - the ones built in the old DAF car plant. 12V power taken directly from fuse box (possibly interior light circuit - but it was a few years ago. I mainly remember having a smirk at him removing the cigar lighter plug from the dashcam lead!).
