Highly unlikely they will / can interrogate the cars ECU unless the accident is very serious. Even then, from personal experience, their investigation is very limited and their judgement wore prejudice than anything scientific

Oh Howard you are so wrong, in the event of a serious or life threatening or worse RTC everything is interrogated ECU, the hidden trackers as fitted in high value cars not to mention mobile phones with GPS. You would be very surprised at the depths we go too. Hope you never have to find out.
