That is indeed not a lot of money. However, I would urge anyone in this position to fit a fully refurbished friction plate because it tends to be the springs that fail, not necessarily the friction material. Broken springs are common and can cause other more serious problems with the clutch slave cylinder.

I suspect that little pieces of black rubber had been dropping out from the bellhousing for some time before final failure. The centa will work surprisingly well (albeit with a bit of slop) until the last rubber roller finally gives up the ghost.
