Some more info for track rods. Having found one knackered track rod I ordered a FEBI BILSTIEN 22767 as per the alternative parts list which of course didn't fit my car. My fault for not measuring the length of the knackered one and realising that something wasn't right so had a delve into the Bilstein website and found one that would do the job; a FEBI BILSTIEN 103606. The other thing that should have rung alarm bells in my mind was that the Rose joints in the parts list have a female thread; mine have male threads and a female-female coupler to connect them to the track rods.
The new rod that I've just fitted is 10mm longer than the original which means that I've got 5mm more thread engaged on each end of the F-F coupler which seems like a good idea since there was only 10mm engaged at each end with the old rod. The photo probably shows this more clearly than the words; top rod is the FEBI BILSTIEN 22767 the middle one is the original complete with the coupler and rose joint with the lock nuts pretty much in the positions as they were on the car and the bottom one is a shiny new FEBI BILSTIEN 103606 complete with an equally shiny new PTFE lined Rose joint.
And if anyone wants one of the FEBI BILSTIEN 22767 rods give me a shout...free to a good home!
