, just spotted your picture Andy on OP's previous thread. If the loom socket doesn't have enough spare cable wrapped away to reach, I would be tempted to obtain fresh female pins and extend the cables to loom socket to reach the plug on lamp. AMP Econoseal connectors are readily available on eBay.
ETA: Loom schematic does show only 15cm at best on that portion of loom eminating from convoluted cover
