Update- crosshead is out! Next step, put the new one in.
Before I do that I want to scrub up the exposed frame and inner wings, touch up the paint.

In order to get the cross head out I removed the radiator, grille, loosened the bar between the wings, removed both brake connections (the ones that pass through the inner wings, they directly block the crosshead wings from rotating upwards, a critical step in removal), and the aluminum skid (that thing that keeps the tire from rubbing the frame). I then unbolted all the cross head bolts, and you tip it forward and can slide it out. Used a rubber mallet.

So far so good. Once all cleaned up, I’ll get the new one in, clamp, measure, twice, then drill the new one.
