Before embarking on new wheels and tyres Tom, have you looked to see where the lowest part of car is? On mine it was the over long factory fit seat bolts, one of which had already been bent on a severe road hump. I gained a centimetre or two ground clearance by replacing with shorter stainless bolts sized to just accept a nylock nut.
