FWIW, MX5 gearboaxes are likely to be plentyful. I presume the clutch is non-standard but will be by some large manufacturer (assuming it's not a mass produced item available for yet another vehicle, making it even easier/cheaper.) Centa isn't going anywhere either. The bevel box is by Quaife isn't it?

Morgan produces very few of the mechanicals in-house. The engine is really the biggest dependency, S&S being a small manufacturer. That said, people are rebuilding 40 year old V-twin engines that went out of production long ago, so I'm sure we'll be fine. May be hard to find the right people but with such a tight community someone will find someone and the word will spread like wildfire. Look at Phil, everyone knowns Phil smile

I'm far more worried about frame or panel damage. Will Morgan, in 10 years' time, beat/roll you a new panel and portion of frame if you get lightly rear-ended?





Yes i think they will. Take a look at the 1930`s models being re-built from the ground up. Mmc and many dealers have the parts for the car, frame tubes panels etc with engine parts for some engines being new old stock off the shelf so to speak.
Take a look a Ewan engineering and Blackburn to name just a few. Also it would not look good for Morgan not to make and supply body parts especially as they have been bought back in house.

Mind you, as Sopwith are reportedly about to bring out a 3 wheeler of there own later this year. With a car price similar to Morgan, it might be worth a trade up to one. With a more powerful and lower emission engine of there own design the benefits might be better all round.



Good news for Morgan, not sure I could do the sopwith. Just a little too silly (says the man with the shark-faced car). What’s the motor? I am quickly falling in love with that V-Twin. Everything it lacks in modernity, refinement, efficiency, rev range, smoothness, power, etc., it makes up in style and ridiculous noise. It just looks so right sitting up front there 😎
