Foreign travel sounds great but it won’t be anything like it was before - one of the many problems with our press is that they paint such an awful picture of this country that we might think it’s better elsewhere. My experience of travelling all over the world is that it seldom if ever is on any front beyond the weather. And certainly more risky for the unwary.
Travellers will face lockdowns, curfew, masks etc and what will be open, where can you stay, what might the locals think of you (cf Cornwall and Wales where visitors haven’t been welcome for some time) etc. And then there is the issue of quarantine when you get back, travel insurance and so on. I fear we are some many months or possibly years off travelling abroad on holiday at a level of risk that most would find tolerable.
Even less cheerful than Clipper I’m afraid 😟
It's not just an issue of our own approaches to risk, I'm sure as travel does open up , new outbreaks will occur and there will be further Government intervention, bans or lockdowns as new variants outside the scope of the current vaccination programme gain hold in society. Having worked extensively abroad from my early 20's onwards I found that once one gets over the initial excitement of all things new, it all becomes very so, so after a while, no matter where you are.
So whilst we bide our time to get down to NZ again to see family, we make the most of what we have, UK is not such a bad place, whilst its nice to go away I always find it's nice to come home.
