Well ! I've just about got rid of that contrived bit of kit dremt up by Omnitec. I've installed 4 hardwired switches to replace those on the Omnitec "mother board" for: the rear fog lamp, hazard lights, driving lamps, and heated screen.
I've installed a conventional hazard and direction indicator system using Durite flasher units, one for for hazards and one for the indicators, I may install one for the security alarm system i have in my car, although system has its own output for the flashing alarm indication.
The heated screen pulls about 5.5 / 6 amps and the switch was rated at 5 amp but being double pole i decided to use the 2 poles so it should be ok without a relay (keep it simple).
I've replaced that oddball logic LED warning light system more suitable LEDs from CBS, also got the switches from them, couldn't get the billet ali switches, out of stock, Chinese i suppose, but may change them when available if i don't take to these tidy little things that were available.
Ive got most of the warning lights working, hand brake, brake fluid, lights on, full beam, rear fog, left and right indicators, driving lamps, just need to battery/alt, and engine light working.
Decided on this little project when i appeared to have a faulty starter motor, which appears to growing arms and legs, battery was u/s, sulphate i guess, although i C-tekt it a couple of times, Halfords did change it under warrenty.
However it looks like I still have the starter motor issue, wasn't sure if it was dodgy connections/earths but I've connected jumper leads from the new fully charged battery direct to the starter and engine block and I still get either a labouring half a rev or a disengaged whirring....and of course the 2 bolts for removal are Loctited in according to my pal in the ford know.
Meanwhile I'm struggling with only wiring document i can find...the M.E.S harness layout! Im looking for info on the 3 relays, Start, Ignition and Fuel Pump, has any body got this info for 2011 plus 4, its actually the Plus 4 SS engine but I'm sure its the same on all cars of the vintage (?) Any info would be appreciated to save my poor multi meter working overtime.
