Over 10 years ago I was playing with the air in take on my 94 +8, I took off the trumpet and put on a K&N open ended filter but didn't want it exposed to the engine heat. I removed the trumpet part from the canister and reverse fit over the filter, then I put the 2 inch hose from below the frame up to the filter housing for cold air. Before this modification I did a rolling road test after the mod carried out another test and found a 5% increase. Many thousands of miles later in all weathers I have had no issues.
