While we’re on the subject can I ask you all for a bit of advice about a subject that has been troubling me. Let me describe my position .
I wouldn’t want to live next door to a badly behaved gypsy family who were engaged in criminal activities. I wouldn’t want to live next door to drug dealers playing loud reggae music all through the night and with strange smelling smoke drifting across the garden fence. I wouldn’t want to live next door to a young offenders rehabilitation home, neither would I want to live next door to barking dogs, or people whose culture is to have large families shouting at each other all the time, and parking too many cars all over the place. I wouldn’t want to live next door to people who keep their front garden scruffy so that visitors think I live in a dump. I don’t know if I’m Angle, Saxon, or Jute, or Roman, Norman, Viking or Celt, Huguenot or Orangeman. But I just want to live next door to people like me . My problem is to know, how I should define myself (fascist, racist, chauvinist, immigrant, coloniser, subjugated indigenous victim, white supremacist, Nazi, ageist, snob, scab, bourgeoisie, little Englander, ?), so that I know who I am offending and what I should be apologising for?
