In 1985, if you specified piping, the wings were painted off the car.
Not all the time. My 1986 car was sprayed wings on, with the piping sprayed too. Maybe just if you wanted contrasting piping?
Interesting. I stand corrected. When we bought our 1985 car, Ben Duncan assured me that it had been painted wings off. The car was metallic grey with black piping.
I understand if you had painted wing piping then the wings were painted on the car if you have unpainted piping from new the wings were painted off the car. One of the great frustrations of my 1985 4/4 with painted wing piping, the paint would crack on the piping due to chassis/wing/body flexing and I was constantly touching up the piping paint
