The heater control is just a rotation knob, no specific stops, even though there are blobs!

You can just see the pressed steel pinion that attaches behind control knob and moves the quadrant located at right angles via outer row of holes, in turn operating on Bowden cable. The inner row would operate ball detent if there was one!
