Rather than running a couple of cables from the temperature switch all the way through the bonnet, I tied in a switch to the power supply to the fan relay (not the switching side of the relay)which is located next to the Starter relay just under the jack box on the drivers side of the scuttle, this gives 2 advantages 1) it’s much tidier & simple. 2) if the relay fails( quite common) then you have a built in bypass , which you don’t have if you link out the temperature switch - just make sure the switch is adequately rated


An interesting alternative, though have you put the switch in the cabin? I’m not too bothered about the relay, I’ve had one fail before so carry a spare.

after a chat with Colin I’ve wired mine into the fan switch and the unused front foglamp switch, so at least have a bit of control over the temperature in traffic.
