This is also a concern to me, still hoping it is under development. Having some interest in the automotive industry I for sure know that good (and cost effective) surface treatments exists.
The photos below is from a car (demonstrator) that has just hours on the road. Even the engine mounts has rusted.
Please note: This car had some unplanned salt spray treatment during overseas transport (outdoor parking).
But I anyhow fear how this will look after some years of use. I will not accept this on my car...maybe after 20 years of use on sunny days. I will accept to do some fine tuning on my own but will not start my ownership of a brand new car with stripping, repainting and rust proofing. With so much of the front suspension/engine being visible (and front will attract a lot of attention) this surface must from my opinion keep a higher level.
