The difficult you will have is with the steering column.
The pre 1970/1971 cars used a one piece steering column, the later cars used the two piece steering column.
The one piece steering column has absolutely no provision for a cam to cancel the indicator so you will probably need to rig up some sort of warning buzzer or bleeper to remind you to cancel the signal!!
