All, just to update this thread. If you are thinking of undertaking the rear valance removal procedure on a Plus Six to upgrade weld the luggage carrier brackets.

Be aware that there is an extra 10mm hex bolt in each rear wheel well that is located under the protective plastic liner on its inner side rear. It can not be seen without pulling slightly out the liner at the rear ( its stiff to do this ), it is aprox 15 cm up inside the liner and holds the outer upper side of the rear valance in position. The only way I could access these bolts without taking out the liners was to use a long 1/4" drive extension with its socket. Its still a piglet to get to and there is minimal room to do it, but can be done without liner removal. Once removed the rear valance comes out exactly as per this thread for a Plus Four.

Of note both the brackets on our Plus Six showed cracks in the weld, so would have failed. Also of note, do not make the new weld too big if welding down the 2 part bracket sides, as one side has to have the luggage rack bolted to it and there is minimal clearence where the luggage rack bolts in. Lastly, on our plus Six one bracket was slotted to be adjustable and one was not, so its wise to measure the gap between the two rear attachment brackets before you take them off, so you can reproduce the same distance apart on refitting.
