I can easily believe that Chinese EVs are being churned out without sufficient regard for safety concerns. One hopes that existing EU and US legislation would protect domestic consumers, but I would certainly be very reluctant to buy one as things are. Why take the risk just to save a few quid?
It's all very reminiscent of the state of ICE car manufacturing in the US in the early 1960s. Remember Ralph Nader's 'Unsafe at Any Speed' and GM's attempt to discredit him instead of just fixing the issues?
