Interestingly, my 2003 model goes through MOT without screen affixed rearview mirror. Seems the side mirrors are adequate. I carry a small suction mount device in the glove department, in case of stoppages or disagreements. I did buy a nifty small classic r/v mirror from car builder solutions for a few quid when I replaced my windscreen, which I'm sure I'll come across eventually
