It was quite a sad day, when I had to let FELIX the 4 seater Roadster go, following a fall on icy steps when I hurt my back. It was a great car with a very high spec, well sorted when it went. But unfortunately, the more upright and higher driving position of the 4 seater just aggravated the back injury every time I depressed the clutch.

In my search for a 2 seater replacement I was not certain whether I wanted to go for a CX auto, so Sue could drive it more, but we have a modern convertible, and I think I still need one last hurrah in a trad.

Well 14 months later, I've scratched the itch and its now sitting in the garage. Collected yesterday some 250 miles for the returning journey in some of the heaviest rain and strong winds of late going up the A1M and over the bleak highest point on M62 Pennines, all because Sue following in the Merc doesn't like the M6 too much,, I can't say I blame her.

It's a 2012 red with tan leather Plus 4 sport with the old fashioned hood, black wire wheels and no stereo, Only covered 4800 miles when I collected OZZY (don't ask why, that's Sue's call) just recently out of just over 4 years in storage years due to a bereavement in the family.

It will want a bit of fettling, as they all do, but it drove very well, the suspension was very compliant compared to my other Morgans (early days). It took me back to the more raw Morgan motoring I enjoyed with my first CVH 4/4 but with more turn of speed, typical old style hood leaked everywhere , but with no music to interrupt the pure mechanical sounds and exhaust noises permeating the cabin, along with the heavy gusts bellowing and trying to take the roof off. it was good fun. The 6 hour journey back was comfortable although having not used a clutch in a while the evitable roadwork snarls tested my left foot. The headlights were pathetic, the rear lights useless at times Sue lost me completely from view in the heavy downpour spray

When I get a chance to clean OZZY I'll put up some photographs, but its nice to be back to some pure Morgan motoring.

I must admit the bigger engine of the Plus 4 seems to suit it well compared to the 4/4's I'm more used to,.
