I worked for a cigar company for 21 years. A non smoker but did sample new products.
We made Manikin cigars. Remember the ad#? Women gambolling in the waves ? The company even had a Miss Mannikin beauty comp event for employees.
We made Hamlet cigars too and they were advertised with comedy. Remember Gregor Fisher's photobooth ad?
Large scale spknsorship of sports....F1, golf, fly fishing the main ones.
In my garage I have a framed poster from an ad awards presentation. I'll get a photo up later. Also some momentos of books, in-house magazines. The marketing dept were very quick to put out an ad that hit on current news, not all making the cut! I have a vhs of the Hamlet ads but lost a copy of out-takes from Hamlet and Mannikin.
Our engineering workshop took down certain calendars when a girl became a technician based there. The workforce was hugely female biased, at one time I had 100+ in my department with 7 males mainly technicians. Sometimes a "dangerous" place for the men!
