Saw that on the news this morning... That Wales supplies many parts of England with it`s water supplies... Hmm...???? Methinks lack of investment by water authorities on infrastructure over decades not only in terms of sewage outflow but far more importantly storage and supply systems...may be coming home to roost..?
while it may be nice for the relatively new pastime of cold water swimmers to have sewage free water to swim in... there seem to be other priorities worth considering other than grumbling about increasing water bills, perhaps the new govt has taken a dangerous bull by the horns....Just hope the bull does not win much as it seems to have done in the US....?
Two comments come to mind Luddite. First is the resentment and nationalism that is already present and would boil over if more Welsh valleys were flooded to provide water for England. The second is that for all the BS about rivers and water quality we still have numbers of wild swimmers in our local rivers including the Wye and the Usk which have figured frequently in eco propaganda. Whats more we dont have people dying or animals dying because of water quality issues. In reality it a hysterical campaign which is going to force all of us to pay way more on water rates for no real benefit.
