These things tear me in half .... one half falls in love with the design, workmanship and engineering ... and the other half is thinking fake, kit-car, pastiche. Saw a couple at the last Revival ... looked great ... but ?

I see what you're coming from, but then if Bob Petersen had been building Bentley Specials back in the 1930s I suspect nobody would have an issue with them now? I don't think they deserve to be thought of as fakes, because nobody is trying to claim them as anything other than they are.
I don't have much of an idea how much these things fetch in comparison to true originals, but I'd be surprised if there was that much of a difference, given the advantages of the Petersen improvements
