Yeah, my attempt at providing advice is well out of date, given we used paper maps and often got lost accidentally finding places of interest that we might never have otherwise visited. As suggested we arranged things on a day by day basis which although had it`s inevitable risks, never let us down, as my good lady ever found us accommodation for the night, at times very interesting digs...(-:
The idea of planning a whole trip in advance seems to have potential to create pressure to be at a particular location around a time of day.. We tried to stick to perhaps 300 miles a day, using autoroutes to get as far south as possible then slowly wind our way back North using all sorts of back roads, which added interest...
